Tour 1: Mogán - Veneguera

Description

We start our hike in Mogán village where our first visit is the picturesque square and the Saint Anthony church. Afterwards we start our hike. During the first half hour we walk towards La Cruz de Mogán. This cross is located on the mountain pass between the ravine of Mogán and the ravine of Veneguera. On the way, we see indigenous plants such as the sweet and bitter euphorbia, Hercules´club, maritime rosemary, Gran Canaria´s viper´s bugloss, which all surround the path with their beautiful flowers. At the top of La Cruz de Mogán we will be enchanted by breathtaking views. There we see the villages of Mogán and Veneguera, the exterior of the famous Caldera de Tejeda, Los Azulejos with its diverse colors and the Atlantic Ocean. After a short break, we set off for the descent to Veneguera village. During the descent we are able to see several remains of the ethnographic heritage of Gran Canaria. We walk along a palm grove and see various imported crops such as sugar cane, cactus figs and fig trees. After a visit to the old village of Veneguera, we take the bus back to Mogán. We can also hike back or do an extra 1,7km loop around Veneguera.

This hike can be turned into a 5,2km hike by adding an extra loop of 1,7km with a very small altitude difference. It can also be turned into a 7km by hiking back to the starting point.
