Tour 6: The valley of Veneguera

Description:

This walk begins in the oldest part of Veneguera: Los Almácigos. It's an enchanting abandoned neighborhood, enclosed with bougainvillea and dotted with houses from the 18th century which were built in the traditional Canarian architecture. After a brief visit, we start climbing towards the Pass of Tasarte. On our way up, we will be able to see remains of the great ethnographic heritage of Gran Canaria, many endemic plants and silent witnesses of the former volcanism such as "dikes", "Los Azulejos" and "La Caldera de Tejeda" which is the outside of a massive crater. After about an hour, we turn left onto a narrow path that leads us along ancient terraces and crops until we reach "La Cogolla" mountain pass.  On top of the mountain, we are rewarded with magnificent views, stretching down to the Tauro massif. After a short break, we descend through the ravine of "Loseco". With its secondary ravines, caves and lonely palm trees, it offers a dramatically beautiful landscape! The ravine of "Loseco" leads to the ravine of Veneguera, where we enjoy a last stop at the beautiful square and its bar!
