Tour 9: Lake tour

Description:

We start our walk in the village of Soria, located directly next to the dam with the very same name. The largest reservoir on the island is surrounded by lush palm groves. The green vegetation in combination with the blue sky and the beautiful lake are a true delight to the eye! We hike up to the area called "Majada Alta". The first bit of the trail is dotted with stones and large boulders. After some heavy rainfalls there are impressive waterfalls that cut the trail. During our ascent, various endemic plants colour the landscape and turn the trip into a floristic treat for those interested in our flora. The climb to the dam "la Presa de las Niñas" is long but the views are absolutely beautiful! A recreation area surrounded by pine trees invites us to take a break. We walk back down along the western slope of the Soria ravine until we spot the impressive dam of Soria with its overwhelming height of 132m. During our descent we see herds of sheep, goats, cave dwellings, old agricultural terraces and majestic eucalyptus trees.
